Aboriginal Music Manitoba (AMM) recently received support from the Canada Council for the Arts’ Capacity Building Program for Aboriginal Arts Organization. The grant helped AMM develop a Policy Guide and send two board members to the Folk Alliance conference for professional development.

The directory will feature multiple genres (everything from pow wow to electronica) and all listings will be free (all material MUST be sent in one email message).

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Wednesday, August 24, 2011 | Aboriginal Music Manitoba is partnering with Tracy Bone and JC Campbell to deliver the All My Relations Stage at Aboriginal Music Week this year. The stage will provide up to six Aboriginal or Native American artists with an opportunity to perform at the festival on November 3, 4, or 5.

Aboriginal Music Manitoba Inc has two nights of concerts planned for June 17 and 18 at the Pyramid Cabaret in downtown Winnipeg. The shows, dubbed the Aboriginal Music Week 2011 Warm-up Weekend, will give audiences a taste of what the festival has planned for the first five nights in November (November 1-5).

Aboriginal Music Week 2009 Wraps Up First Year

Aboriginal Music Week 2009 ran November 3-7 in world class venues throughout downtown Winnipeg. The five-day music festival included five evening concerts, three free lunch hour concerts, and three free music business workshops. All told, 21 Aboriginal and Native American acts (51 individual artists) hit the stages for close to 2900 people throughout the week.
